On November 1, 1984, Musqueam won the landmark Supreme Court of Canada case Guerin v. The Queen. The court case, led by Musqueam Chief Delbert Guerin, was pivotal as it fundamentally changed Canadian and Indigenous law and is ranked amongst the most important decisions of the 20th century. Every year, Musqueam leadership and administration acknowledges November 1st as Musqueam Day and we celebrate the determination of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) ancestors in seeking justice and protecting inherent rights.
